Check out Obsoletetechnology on Soundcloud and on Bandcamp

Obsoletetechnology pays homage to what was supposed to be the future a long time ago, exploring a parallel universe of technology and sound which has never happened. A time when a blinking LED meant high-technology and was standing for things yet to come – the future as it used to be!

His sound can best be described as a mix of raw and rich textures with large bass. Musically inspired by Detroit’s futurism, the vibe and grittiness of early Jamaican dancehall and dub productions, he is exploring the innards of electronic landscapes and endless reverb in space. Music with a technological approach and an analog edge.

Obsoletetechnology’s tracks are always recorded in one single recording session with all fades, mutes and modulations performed in real-time. Most of the equipment used in the recordings is vintage or even home-made and mainly chosen for its special character, no matter if analog or digital.

He is also a vintage gear-collector, modifies and repairs old sythesizers, builds own circuits for various audio purposes and even designs and creates complete hardware and software technologies.

Besides the label Gotwax!, Obsoletetechnology also published on Swayzak’s label Serieculture and the Latvian netlabel Netcords as well as C90RulesOK! under the Veste aka.

EP on Gotwax!

The second Gotwax! EP is a slamming longsided club two-tracker with detroit- and dub-flavoured raw-body-music. The future as it used to be!

909 Test convinces with a basic pattern approach, layering stripped down gritty chord figures over a unique banging drum pattern. Developing an impressive power and intensity due to the unpredictability of the applied modulations everything leads consequently into heavy grooving monster-beats. Always feels like it’s covered with a layer of magic electronic dust embedding everybody in a warm texture never letting go again.
Kliier is a track with genuine flow, creating a deep plasticity with its rolling sawtooth chords and a deep, heavy bass-line. Due to its dubby attitude, relying on raw filter- and delay-actions, it is creating an entrancing atmosphere both working in the club and for home listening pleasure. You will get addicted to it!

Mastering and cut done by Andreas ‘Lupo’ Lubich of Dubplates & Mastering. Pressed by Optimal-Media – each record is hand-stamped on both sides.

This record is available on vinyl only! You can order it from following shops or at your local record store.
